Northstar Privacy Policy

Effective August 30, 2026

Northstar is a read-only personal-finance app. It cannot transfer funds, make payments, place trades, or change your financial accounts.

Information we process

• Account and profile: email address, display name, authentication and consent records.
• Read-only financial information: accounts, balances, transactions, holdings, and analytics retrieved through the connected aggregation provider.
• Security and operation: login, export and consent audit events plus device/session metadata needed to protect and operate the service.
• Purchases: if Premium products become available, Google Play and RevenueCat process purchase and entitlement information. Northstar does not receive your full payment-card or bank details.

What we do not do

• We do not receive or store your bank login credentials.
• Provider access tokens are encrypted and are never stored in plaintext.
• We never sell personal or financial information and never move your money.

How information is used

We use information to provide account aggregation, budgeting, analytics, security, exports and deletion. Optional AI features require separate consent. AI processing receives privacy-minimized financial context, not provider tokens or bank credentials.

Retention and your choices

Information is retained while your account is active. You may manage consent, export your information, and request account deletion in the app. If you cannot access the app, follow the account-deletion instructions. After a deletion request, personal and financial records are removed after the stated grace period; a minimal user-detached security record may be retained when necessary for security or legal obligations.

Service providers and security

Northstar uses service providers for authentication, hosting, financial aggregation, optional purchase processing, and consented AI processing. Data is encrypted in transit and sensitive provider tokens are protected with AWS KMS envelope encryption. No system is risk-free, but access is limited to what is needed to operate the service.
